Lulu to set up a mega mall in Visakhapatnam, food processing unit in Vijayawada, and a logistics procurement exporting hub in Rayalaseema

Visakhapatnam: Lulu launches major projects in Andhra Pradesh, promising thousands of jobs and a boost to agriculture, marking one of its biggest expansions in South India. Yusuffali M.A., Chairman of Lulu Group, on Thursday signed an MoU with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, setting new projects in retail, including a mega shopping mall in Visakhapatnam, a food sourcing and export centre in Vijayawada, and a logistics procurement exporting hub in Rayalaseema.
During the MoU ceremony, Yusuffali said that construction of the Lulu Mall in the city would begin this week, marking the start of one of the largest retail developments in the State. The mall, set to open in three years, is expected to create direct employment for 5000 people, with an additional 12000 indirect job opportunities.
In a further boost to the state’s economy, Lulu’s new food processing and export hub in Vijayawada, set to open in the first week of January. From the hub, processing and exporting of mango pulp, guava pulp, and processed spices under the Lulu label would
also begins on January first week itself. This venture, expected to significantly benefit farmers, will also help to expand agricultural exports to GCC countries and Egypt.
The food processing center in Mallavalli, Vijayawada, is part of a larger strategy to support farmers and provide new economic opportunities. Yusuffali emphasized that the project would offer better market access for farmers, ensuring more value added products are created in the region. Additionally, a new logistics procurement exporting hub will be set up in Rayalaseema, with its construction scheduled to start within six months. The state government expects the hub to become a major export centre for agricultural and processed food products in the region.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu praised Lulu’s investments as a significant step in the state’s ongoing development.
Visakhapatnam Mall will be the group’s ninth in India. CM Naidu described the upcoming mall as the “Navaratna” of Lulu’s projects in the country. He said the mall would becames an experience centre and boost tourism. He urged Yusuffali to target an early opening six months prior, noting that such projects create renewed economic confidence in the state.
